President of the Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees, Zach Brady, joined The Chad Hasty Show on Wednesday to discuss plans for three of Lubbock's middle schools.

According to Brady, the plan being discussed right now is to close Smylie Wilson Middle School because of poor test scores. That school would be turned into a magnet campus that families can apply to attend. Most of the current students would be sent to either Irons Middle School or Mackenzie Middle School.

Brady discussed the reasons why Smylie Wilson is in the shape it is and what cultural changes and instructional changes may be coming for that and other campuses.

The Board of Trustees will hold a meeting Thursday morning at 7 a.m. at the Central Administration Building located at 1628 19th Street to discuss the issue further.
