Snyder police officer Cpl. Darrell Campbell has been released from the hospital after arriving in critical condition two weeks ago.

Campbell was rushed to University Medical Center after being shot in the head during a July 12th call in Snyder, Texas. Campbell and his partner Lee Ortiz were responding to a call of shots fired when the man they were talking to, Dewayne Birmingham, drew a pistol and shot Campbell in the head.Officer Ortiz then shot and killed Birmingham.

A UMC spokesman says Campbell will spend time at a rehabilitation center to complete his recovery.
