An area organization will hold an informational session for former Cargill Meat Processing Plant workers that are now jobless.

Workforce Solutions South Plains will offer the information session on Thursday, July 11th at the Ollie Liner Center, located at 2000 South Columbia Street in Plainview.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the session will begin at 10 a.m.

The session is aimed to help former Cargill workers navigate the resources available to prepare for and find new jobs.

Workforce Solutions CEO Martin Aguirre weighed in, saying “We are holding this session to offer information to Cargill workers affected by the closure of the plant in order to be best prepared to move forward to provide reemployment services and to answer questions.

Aguirre also urges all former Cargill employees to visit the New Opportunities Center, located at 1001 N. I-27, Ste. 224 in Plainview, register at www.workintexas.com, or to call the center at 293-8566.

The U.S. Department of Labor announced a National Emergency Grant of more than $2 million last month to provide assistance to more than 320 workers affected by the January 2013 closure of the plant.
