Woman Indicted After Deadly October Hit-And-Run in South Lubbock
A grand jury in Lubbock indicted a woman for failure to stop and render aid after she struck and killed a pedestrian with her car.
The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Monday, October 4th, when the victim, 20 year-old Jacoby Springfield, attempted to use the crosswalk at 82nd Street and Avenue U. 50 year-old Christina Hernandez was driving eastbound on 82nd Street and hit Springfield at the crosswalk, then ran the red light and fled the scene.
Springfield later died from injuries sustained at a Lubbock hospital.
Later, Hernandez was arrested at a residence in the 2700 block of East Slaton Highway and charged with intoxication manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid.
Since the indictment, Hernandez has posted bond to be released from jail.
