We all know the saying, 'when it rains, it pours.' Well, in West Texas it's just a little bit different. This weekend we got some rain around the area and I was actually out in New Mexico in the mountains when it was all happening.

When I finally got cell phone service back, I was told we saw some rain around the area but was not prepared for what I saw when we headed back to Lubbock on Sunday.

On Sunday, the US National Weather Service in Lubbock reported the rainfall totals over the last 24 hours in the graphic below. Anything that's a shade of blue saw 0.50 inches or less, and areas in yellow saw at least 2.0 inches. Radars estimated northwestern Hockley County saw right at 8 inches of rainfall, which makes sense.

We first saw the flooding when we got to Muleshoe. Some of the lanes were closed due to flooding, but when we drove by it wasn't flooded anymore. Then, once we got to Sudan through Littlefield, we saw it the most. I mean, just look at this picture below. I don't even feel like it does it justice.

We saw so many fields like this and I'm so glad we finally got some rain. You can see the full list of how much each area got of rain here.

KAMC Meteorologist Shelby Mac says that we will have more rain coming this week. Wednesday, here we come!

So everyone drive safe out there and let's keep those rain dances coming!
