West Texas Man Claims Mega Millions Prize From the Texas Lottery

You can't win if you don't play, and for a resident of O'Donnell, they recently won big thanks to the Mega Millions Jackpot. While they didn't win the entire jackpot, $1 million dollars is nothing to sneeze at.

The Mega Millions prize worth $1 million was won in the drawing on September 6th according to a press release earlier in the week. The winning ticket was sold at a Stripes in Lamesa located at 1912 N. Dallas Avenue.

How Did A Texas Man Win $1 Million From Mega Millions?

The winning ticket for the O'Donnell man was a "quick pick" tickets. That's when the computer randomly gives you numbers on your ticket. The Quick Pick ticket numbers matched all five of the ball numbers. The resident missed out on the Mega Ball number which would have resulted in a bigger prize.

What is Mega Millions?

According to the Texas Lottery, there are several ways to win at Mega Millions.

Mega Millions is played by choosing five numbers from a field of 70 and one Mega Ball number from the second field of 25 numbers. To win the Mega Millions jackpot, players must match all six numbers drawn including the Mega Ball. Players matching fewer numbers may not win the jackpot, but could still walk away winners. Mega Millions currently offers a $20 million starting jackpot and a second-tier (Match 5+0) prize of $1 million. By choosing the Megaplier feature for $1 more per Play, players can multiply their non-jackpot winnings by two, three, four or five times, winning as much as $5 million

Drawings for Mega Millions are on Tuesday and Friday at 10:12 p.m. CT.
