University Medical Center in Lubbock Will Give Low-Income Families Free Car Seats
The University Medical Center - Lubbock, Trauma and Burn Services will provide free car seats to low-income families.
The Safe Riders Traffic Safety Program has partnered with UMC to provide free car seats to self-certified low-income families to lower child-accidents in relation to improper car seat installation.
UMC Trauma and Burn Services will also provide free car seat safety classes to those needing a car seat.
There is no application or proof of income needed. Those needing a car seat can call the Safe Riders phone line at 761-0660.
UMC will provide car seats for children of all ages, except premature babies.
"I'm a big believer that kids are our future," said Kawanna McCormick, UMC Trauma and Burn Registrar. "So we have to protect them. A car seat is part of protecting them."
