Two Lubbock Men Arrested in Multi-Agency Investigation Search
The Lubbock Police Department found an excessive amount of marijuana after arresting two men. Back on June 13, the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office SWAT team conducted the search of a home in the 2900 block of East Bates Street. This search involved the help of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives along with the help of the Lubbock Police Department and Texas Anti-Gang Unit.
KAMC news reports that two men, Cededric Hawthorne and Kavontae Hawthorne, were the main suspects in the investigation. It was during the initial search that investigators discovered a gun in the kitchen along a little over six pounds (6.87lbs) of marijuana in the home. During the search two juveniles and four other adults that were in the home at the time of both Hawthorne arrests were also taken into custody as they left the home.
Both Kevontae and Cededric Hawthorne were transported to the Lubbock County Detention Center and charged with Drug Possession. Kevontae Hawthorne was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon after admitting that the firearm that was found in the kitchen belonged to him. As per the publishing of this article both Kevontae and Cededric were no longer listed in the Lubbock County Jail Roster and it is believed they both posted bail.
