This past weekend, my fiancee and I traveled to Dallas to purchase wedding bands and visit family over the Easter weekend. Being from Dallas, I know of many great places to eat and I'm always willing to give advice on where to go. With that said, here are a few places to eat that you should know about the next time to travel to Dallas-Ft. Worth.

  • Mi Cocina- (multiple locations) It's probably some of the best Mexican food you can have and it's at a great price. There are many locations including the one in Highland Park, but we ate at the one in Uptown in Dallas. The service is always friendly and they make you feel welcome. The must have? Well, it's not a food item (because all the items are good), instead it's a drink. The Mambo Taxi. It's fantastic and won't knock you off your feet. It just tastes great.

BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse- (Arlington Highlands) Want a deep dish pizza? How about a fantastic burger? Oh, and they brew their own beer as well. BJ's is a great place for a casual lunch or dinner in the Arlington Highlands. They have so many options on their menu and great desserts as well. On this trip, we shared a large deep dish pepperoni and meatball pizza. One word describes it. Wow. I'm normally not a deep dish guy. Give me thin crust and I love it, but this experience was awesome. The large was plenty big for us. Four people could probably share it, but expect fights to break out if you do that. I wish we had one of these in Lubbock.
  • Glorias- (multiple locations in DFW) This place is another great mexican food place. One of my favorite items on the menu though is the quail. It's always good and the food is always hot. Glorias in the Bishop Arts District just moved into an old Firehouse and it's really neat and historic on the inside. The patio there is probably one of the best I've seen in a long time.
  • Piranha's Killer Sushi- (Arlington Highlands) If you enjoy Sushi, then you will like Piranha's located in the Arlington Highlands. It's a modern and fun atmosphere with great drinks and great sushi. They have a lot of different options for rolls and their crab sushi was probably some of the best crab that I've eaten in a while. Put this as one of the places to get good sushi at a decent price in DFW.

There were other great places that we ate in Dallas, but I'll get to those later. Enjoy!
