This Meteorologist Has Had Enough of Your Complaining
It's been an active severe weather season here in Lubbock and throughout the nation. Monday night was no different, with 51 tornadoes touching down across eight states. The hardest hit area was Dayton, Ohio, where at least one person was killed and the area was left devastated.
Meteorologists took to the airwaves to report on the severe weather. That had some on social media upset because the severe weather coverage was interrupting The Bachelorette and other shows.
Jaimie Simpson, meteorologist for WKEF in Dayton, decided to respond to those on social media that were complaining. It was a moment that had many in the profession cheering this morning. You can see the video in the tweet below.
Simpson told the audience, in part, that he wasn't interrupting shows for his ego, and that the complaints were just pathetic:
“I’m sick and tired of people complaining about this! Our job here is to keep people safe. And that’s what we’re going to do. Some of you complain that this is all about my ego. Stop, okay?! Just stop right now! It’s not. I’m done with you people! I really am. This is pathetic!”
Ron Roberts of KAMC in Lubbock agreed with what Simpson said in a post on Twitter.
Remember, when severe weather strikes, and especially when a tornado is possible, meteorologists on TV and radio are trying to keep people safe in your city and in surrounding areas.
TV shows are a great escape, but sometimes, the real world means more.
