Thursday on KFYO Mornings with Dave King and Matt Martin, The Car Pro Jerry Reynolds joined Matt and Dave to talk about his test drive of the week, Tesla building a plant in Austin, SUVs, as well as other auto industry news.

This week, The Car Pro was test driving the 2020 Chevy 1500 Silverado RST, which stands for Rally Sports Truck. Jerry liked this truck, and started the discussion by saying, "Very nice truck, actually. I am impressed with the value of this truck." The 1500 Silverado has a leather interior, a 5.3 v8 engine, has 20 inch wheels, drives well, and has a good fuel economy. The truck also has a feature that allows you to lower the tailgate with the push of a button inside the car, which Jerry thinks is quite useful. Reynolds explained that it does not, however, have a moon roof or some of the things that might expect in an upper line truck. This model has an MSRP of $51,000, which Jerry thinks is a good value compared to similar trucks.

Keeping in the truck theme, Reynolds also talked about Tesla's plan to come to Austin to build their all electric truck. Jerry explained that Austin is a technology center, so it would be a good location for factory. He went on to explained that Elon Musk has been trying to get the Texas legislature to approve Tesla selling cars directly to the public, but they have been denied in the past. However, if Tesla builds a plant close to the capital, it might help their case a bit.
