Tropical Disturbance in the Gulf Could Impact Texas
So far this Hurricane season has been fairly quiet in the Gulf and for the State of Texas, but that could be starting to change as the waters continue to heat up and we get deeper into Hurricane season.
The National Hurricane Center Is Tracking a New Disturbance
According to the National Hurricane Center, a new area in the Gulf has popped up as a location where a tropical disturbance could occur. The new area is in the Southwestern Gulf and experts say there is about a 20% chance that it could develop into a tropical cyclone in the next few days.
If something does develop it could impact Mexico, Texas, or both.

Rain Chances Increase for Houston and Southeast Texas
According to Chron.com, the current disturbance remains weak for right now, but that doesn't mean parts of Texas won't see some type of impact. Houston and Southeastern Texas could see increased rain chance as the system moves north beginning Friday. If the system becomes better organized, that could change the forecast.
Still, chances are low that the disturbance turns into a tropical storm or Hurricane.
Tropical Storm Erin is still spinning around in the Atlantic. It poses no threat to Texas as of right now.
