Take a look around Lubbock and you can see the effects this drought has been having on us. It's pretty bad here, but it could be a lot worse. We still have water, which is more than I can say for another Texas town.

City officials in Kemp, Texas have made the decision to shut off the city's water supply because they cannot keep up with the demand for water. Officials had placed heavy water restrictions on the city after a water main broke 2 weeks earlier and spilled nearly 2 million gallons of water. But the demand for water has proven too great for the city to fulfill with their diminished water supply. The city will be providing bottled water to its residents for drinking and chores until the water is refilled.

This is a pretty dire situation for a city to shut off its entire water supply in the middle of this horrible drought. And I think it may serve as a good reminder for folks to keep tabs on their own water usage. You can't take water for granted, especially in times like this.
