Texas Tech University is going the extra mile to protect its students before the Thanksgiving break. The last thing people need to worry about is flu season, but neither the flu nor COVID-19 are going anywhere anytime soon.

Alongside its ongoing efforts to test students for COVID-19, Texas Tech University announced last week that students can also receive a free flu shot before its time for Thanksgiving.

Texas Tech will provide free flu vaccines to students through the week of Nov. 16 – Nov. 20. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday of that week, students can visit the Student Wellness Center to receive their free shots anytime from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Wednesday, flu shots will instead be available via an outdoor clinic at Urbanovsky Park from 8.a.m to 5 p.m. as well. Appointments or insurance information is not required for these free flu shots, but they will only be available on a first-come first-serve basis and supplies is limited.

Students who still want to take advantage of Texas Tech’s free COVID-19 testing before the break can still do so Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Helen DeVitt Jones Sculpture Court at the Texas Tech Museum, located at 3301 4th Street.

COVID-19 testing at Texas Tech is normally closed on Sunday, but will be available Sunday, Nov. 22. Free COVID testing at Texas Tech only be available until Dec. 9. Visit their website for more information.
