Preseason softball conference honors for two Texas Tech players have been announced.

Texas Tech senior Emily Bledsoe and junior Sandy James have been named to the preseason All-Big 12 second team by College Sports Madness.

The two infielders have received this honor before, as they received the same accolade the previous season in a vote by conference coaches. This is the third year in a row Bledsoe has earned the second team designation.

Bledsoe finished with a .383 average, barely falling short of the team high. She hit three home runs and 33 RBIs last season.

James hit a school-record 16 home runs, garnering a .352 average and 62 RBIs. Tech’s offense was ranked fourth nationwide with an overall .341 batting average, another school record.

The Red Raider softball team will report back on January 12th to begin preparing for their February 9th season opener against San Diego State. They’ll face off against the Aztec Warriors in the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Arizona.
