
Texas Tech Police Officers Injured, Suspect Dead After Shootout
Lubbock Police are investigating a shooting that occurred overnight at Texas Tech.
The Texas Tech Police Department announced an investigation has begun into an officer-involved shooting on the Texas Tech campus after midnight on Tuesday.
Officer-Involved Shooting at Texas Tech University
According to a press release from the Texas Tech Police Department, the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes unit is investigating the officer-involved shooting that took place on the north side of Jones AT&T Stadium in the 2700 block of the Marsha Sharp Freeway.
According to the press release, Texas Tech Police Officers at around 12:45am on Tuesday we checking on a suspicious vehicle that, according to pictures from KAMC, appears to have been parked under the pedestrian bridge on the north side of Jones AT&T Stadium.
During the interaction between police and the suspect, the suspect "produced a gun and began firing shots at the officers. Police returned fire and the suspect was shot and later pronounced dead on the scene.
Two Texas Tech Police Officers were shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. They were both taken to University Medical Center.
The Investigation Continues
According to KAMC, officers were still on the scene at around 7:30 Tuesday morning conducting an investigation. The suspects name has not been released as of this writing.
