Can you believe it? Basketball season is here and the first of many Associated Press Polls have been released.

The Texas Tech men’s basketball will enter the 2022-23 season ranked by the AP. They came in at  No. 25 released on Monday, October 17th, 2022.

There are a lot of other Big 12 teams on the list. Kansas came in tied at No. 5 with Baylor. UT came in 12th and TCU 14th. We are the 5th team on the top 25 coming in at No. 25.

This brings them down 13 places after wrapping up last season ranked No. 12 in the country. Tech went 27-10 last season, including going 18-0 at home which was only matched by Kentucky.

This season will be the second year the Raiders will be led by head coach Mark Adams, who led the team to a Sweet 16 appearance last season. Tech returns three players from last season, including Kevin Obanor who was named All-Big 12 honorable mention selection. Obanor is joined by Daniel Batcho and KJ Allen as the team's only returners. The program brought in five players from the transfer portal and also has five true freshmen this season.

We are less than a month away from the season tip-off. The Red Raiders open up against Northwestern State at 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7 at United Supermarkets Arena.

The Red Raiders are set to play No. 9, Creighton in the Maui Jim Maui Invitational on November 21st at 1:30 p.m.

Conference play for the team will start up against No. 14 TCU on December 31st, 2022 at TCU. You can find the full schedule of play here.
