In the days after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, people took to social media to express their feelings about his life and death. Some, took to social media to mock or celebrate his death.

Since then we have seen a wave of firings of those who mocked or celebrated the assassination. Businesses, schools, universities, and government jobs across the United States announced that people had been fired for not representing the values of their employers. And now close to 200 teachers in Texas are under investigation for alleged inappropriate comments they may have made.

Texas Education Agency Investigates Texas Teachers After Complaints

The Texas Education Agency has announced that they are investigating around 180 complaints against teachers who have been accused of making "inappropriate" comments about the death of Charlie Kirk on social media. Some teachers around the state have already been fired from their jobs.

According to the Texas Tribune, on Monday Governor Abbott said that the complaints against the teachers was over 100 and the statements "called for or incite violence".

Teachers Risk Losing Their Certificate

According to the report, TEA President Mike Morath warned that those who posted inappropriate material could have their certification suspended.

“While all educators are held to a high standard of professionalism, there is a difference between comments made in poor taste and those that call for and incite further violence — the latter of which is clearly unacceptable,” Morath said.

The Texas Tribune reported that at least six school districts as of Monday had already taken disciplinary action against some educators.
