The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) posted on X after Gipson Sr. was finally captured:

Early in the morning on September 26, 2024, Gipson reportedly approached a woman near a gas station in Beaumont, TX. After sneaking up on the woman and pulling her to a nearby church, he pulled a knife and pressed it to her throat while he sexually assaulted her.

Comparing Gipson's DNA with What Was Found at the Scene

DNA collected after the altercation was submitted to the Texas DPS' Crime Laboratory Division. A match was discovered linking this particular case with three other unsolved cases around the same area in 2018, 2019, and 2020, respectively.

After comparing Gipson's DNA with what was found on the scene of each assault through DPS' Sexual Assault Kit Initiative Project, a positive match was found.

On August 20, 2025, Eric Gipson Sr. was charged by a Jefferson County grand jury with two counts of aggravated sexual assault and two counts of sexual assault.

Investigators related to Gipson's sexual assaults ask anyone in the public to please come forward with any further information related to the cases.

If you have any information tied to either case, you can call the Beaumont Police Department at (409) 832-1234 or Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers at 409-833-TIPS (8477).
