
Texas Fishermen Reel in Record-Breaking 1,000-Lb Hammerhead Shark
Texas broke yet another record after a massive hammerhead shark weighing 1,000 pounds and reaching a length of over 14 feet was caught by some brave fishermen along the southeast coast.

The Harrowing Encounter with Nature's Deadliest
It all started with a planned shark fishing day along South Padre Island when Joe Gonzales and some friends accidentally made history.
Let me interrupt here. It's great that you want to hang out with your friends and all, but shark fishing? I never imagined I'd hear those two words together unless there was someone yelling "look out!" in the same sentence. Anyways, I digress.
On August 1 at about 7:30 in the evening, Gonzales' fishing line caught something strange. Something BIG. After allowing some slack on the line, he began the fight with whatever sea beast was on the other end.
A whopping 45 minutes into the skirmish, they finally saw a massive dorsal fin break out of the water's surface, showing just how massive the body that it was connected to was.
Texas' Largest Hammerhead Shark on Record
Finally, after about an hour, Gonzales and the gang were able to wrangle the record-breaking shark onto land. Eager to find the truth, they immediately measured the length.
This was when they discovered they just beat Texas' record for the largest hammerhead shark ever caught at 14.5 feet long: just one inch shorter than the WORLD RECORD.

For those curious, the largest recorded hammerhead shark ever caught was along a Florida coast back in 2006 coming in at 1,280 pounds and 14 feet 6 inches long. Imagine bumping that with your foot while swimming in the ocean alone...
