It has been a dangerous day to be on the roads across West Texas and into the Panhandle as winds gusting up to 84 mph have led to brownouts in numerous locations. Even inside the City of Lubbock and different areas of the Panhandle have seen wind damage to some buildings and trees.

Texas Storm Chasers has been among some of the groups out documenting today's extreme weather event in our region. And some of the video they have gotten is shocking. Winds gusting over 80 mph have been common from the Panhandle to the South Plains.

The near brownout conditions led to a pileup incident south of Canyon on I-27 leading to a portion of the interstate being shut down.

Another video was shot near Silverton, Texas at around 2:30pm.

There was another large pileup south of Hale Center on Friday due to the dust storm.

Accuweather shared this video of semis flipping along I-40 in Amarillo on Friday.

Along with the high winds and blowing dust. Several wildfires have been reported.

The wind is expected to diminish later tonight. KFYO will have more on this weather event as news warrants.
