Texas is set to see another arctic blast starting this weekend, but this time it appears there will be less snow and ice, while temperatures will plunge to the lowest we have seen and felt during this winter season.

Depending on which part of the state you live in, cold temperatures will arrive sometime between Friday night and Sunday. The cold front will arrive after a couple of days of really mild weather in Texas. For those in Lubbock, Saturday will be mostly sunny but with a high of 42 as of this writing, and that's the day the arctic front arrives as lows will plunge into the teens.

Sunday's high will be around freezing in the Lubbock area with high temperatures Monday and Tuesday below freezing as well. Low temperatures are expected to fall to as low as 10 degrees in Lubbock. Those temperatures can be dangerous for both humans and animals.

But it's the bitterly cold wind chills that many are warning Texans about. Just look at this map posted on social media on Tuesday night. Of course things could still change, but overnight and morning windchills in Texas during this cold front will range from -6 in the Texas panhandle to -4 in the Lubbock area. Single digits in the Big Country and Dallas-Fort Worth area and even the 20's along the Texas coast.

Portions of New Mexico could see -10 to -15 degree windchills as well.

In other words, it's going to be cold this weekend. That means you will need to take steps to prepare and protect yourself, your home, and your pets.
