Border Agents in Texas—just days before Christmas—stopped a man from crossing into the country who was wanted for sexual exploitation of children. What does this crime actually mean though in Texas? Let's find out.
Man Arrested for Crimes Against Children Along Border
On Monday, December 22, border agents at the Veterans International Bridge in Brownsville sent 24-year-old Logan Alexander Tuckey, a U.S. citizen, to secondary inspection.
Through the use of biometric verification such as fingerprints and facial ID, officers were able to access the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and discover that Tuckey had an outstanding felony arrest warrant out of Whitfield County in Georgia.

The warrant was for sexual exploitation of children. Tuckey was then arrested and sent to Cameron County where he awaits final adjudication.
What is Child Sexual Exploitation and How Does Texas Punish the Crime?
In Texas, exploitation of children can be conducted for either personal or financial benefit, according to the Texas-based Crowder Law Firm.
Sexual exploitation is—as you would suspect—the act of exploiting or forcing children to do illegal or sexual acts for personal satisfaction or for the production of child pornography.
Crimes of child sexual exploitation in Texas are punished by fines of up to $10,000 and a prison sentence of up to 10 years.
Commonly, those charged with this crime are also charged with sexual assault of a child or possession of online child pornography which, combined, can land someone in prison for 25 to 99 years.
