Terrorism Threat to U.S. Airports Expected To Increase
According to this article at Bloomburg.com, the threat of terrorist attacks at United States airports is expected to grow in coming years.
Michael Morell, former deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency says that as Islamic State loses territory in the Middle East, tens of thousands of its fighters who moved in from other countries to fight will leave, and that many will likely attempt to infiltrate into the U.S.
Morrell also said that of the people arrested by the FBI on terrorism-related charges during the past three years, more than 80 percent were U.S. residents, and that the majority of those were citizens.
“The threat is actually going to get worse over the next several years,” Morell said during an appearance at an aviation summit in Washington.
