In remembrance of September 11, 2001 the entirety of the Texas Tech University System will lower university flags to half mast this Sunday. Flags on regional campuses will be lowered as well. The commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the tragic World Trade Center attacks will accompany several other on-campus commemorative events. Chancellor Kent Hance says it’s important we remember the event that happened a decade ago. Quote “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends who have lost loved ones, and on behalf of the entire Texas Tech University System, I extend our deepest sympathy and gratitude.”

Tech will also honor veterans and first responders during half time at the Texas Tech soccer game against Toledo on September 11th. That game beings at 12:30pm at John Walker Soccer Complex. September 12th through 16th the Veterans Association and partnering organizations will conduct a "Cell Phones for Soldiers" Drive in the free speech area outside the Student Union Building.
