Lubbock Police are investigating an overnight crash that resulted in a home catching fire.

At around 2 a.m. Friday morning, a 23-year-old male was driving an SUV in the 200 block of Redbud Avenue when he lost control and hit a curb. The SUV then flipped onto its side and collided with a parked vehicle in a driveway.

The force caused both vehicles to crash into the home. When Lubbock Fire and Rescue arrived on scene, both vehicles were on fire which caused the house to also catch fire.

The family inside the home heard the crash and got out of the home safely when they noticed the fire. As firefighters worked to put out the fire, an officer evacuated nearby neighbors from their homes for safety.

According to LFR, one room of the home was heavily damaged from the fire and vehicles, and there was heavy smoke damage throughout the home.

The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Charges are pending for this investigation.
