A Summer Cold Front Will Impact Parts of Texas
A rare late July/early August cold front is heading for Texas. And while temperatures are expected to fall in parts of the state, don't expect the "cooler" temperatures to last very long. Summer still has a firm grip on the Lone Star State.
So what can we expect from this cold front?
What To Expect From the Cold Front in Texas
Expect a brief cool down, depending on where you are in Texas. The Panhandle, South Plains, and Big Country along with Northwestern Texas will likely see brief cool downs starting on Thursday. It will go from hot to not as hot across the area.

For example, Thursday's high in Lubbock is supposed to around 91 degrees which isn't bad for July 31. On Friday, August 1, Lubbock's high will be around 87 degrees. But don't look for upper 80's temperatures in other parts of the state.
Temperatures in the DFW area will go from 103 on Thursday to 95 on Friday and 92 on Saturday.
The cold front is expected to stall somewhere in Central Texas. So this rare summer cold front will be short lived and only bring a slight amount of relief from the hot temperatures.
Hot Weather Returns Next Week
Triple digits will return across the state Sunday into Monday. In Lubbock, high temperatures are expected be in the triple digits all next week including the possibility of temperatures around 104 from Tuesday through Friday.
So don't worry if you love really hot temperatures. We have plenty of Summer left for you to enjoy. Though, personally, I must admit I'm ready for the Fall.
