On the Wednesday edition of The Chad Hasty Show, state representative Harvey Hilderbran talked with Chad Hasty about his campaign for Texas comptroller.

Hilderbran is the representative of District 53 in Texas, and served as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee in 2011. He said that as chairman, he worked closely with the office of Texas comptroller and that sparked his interest in running for the office.

Hilderbran said that comptroller is one of the most important offices in the state of Texas and that, if elected, he would strive to enforce good tax polices. However, he added that would also like to bring something new to the office of comptroller.

"You should want to put your own stamp on an office. If you want to be in an office, like I do, you want to do the fundamental things that's required for the office holder to do in that position. But your ought to look at other ways the office can be useful and meaningful and can improve the lives and, in this case, the tax policies and economy of the state."

Hilderbran explained that he had more insight about the office than his other competitors for comptroller, due to his expedience with the House Ways and Means Committee He added that he is the only candidate thus far that has put forward a plan for the office, called his "Performance Pledge." He then went on to describe part of his plan, such as improving customer service for the comptroller's office and protecting Texas from the IRS.
