Summer fun is set to start this week in Lubbock with the opening of the City of Lubbock Splash Pads on Friday, May 16.

The wait is finally over for those looking to cool down from the warm and summer-like temperatures we are seeing this week and the really hot temperatures we will see as the months go by.

Lubbock Splash Pad Locations

The City of Lubbock has three Splash Pads located in parks around the city. They are located at the following parks:

Mae Simmons Park 1301 E 24th Street

Maxey Park 4020 30th Street

Rogers 3200 Bates Street

All three locations will open on Friday, May 16th and be open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. from the 16th through the 18th. The City of Lubbock also announced that from May 19 through the 22nd the hours of operation will be 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. On Friday May, 23 through the rest of the summer, normal hours will resume, 10:00 am through 8:00 p.m.

City of Lubbock Pools to Remain Closed

If you were hoping to dive into a city pool this Summer, there is some bad news. No city pools will be open this year. In fact, it seems the pool at Clapp Park and pools at other locations will remain closed for a while, if not forever.

A future aquatic center is possible, but only through a bond election, and lately there has been no talk of adding that to a ballot.
