Plans for a trip for some area veterans will be announced this week.

The Texas South Plains Honor Flight will announce plans for this year’s trip to Washington, D.C. at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 14th.

The announcement will be made at the Silent Wings Museum, located at 6202 North Interstate 27.

The Texas South Plains Honor Flight will fly U.S. military veterans, particularly those from World War II and Korea, to Washington, D.C. for them to see monuments to their efforts and other national venues.

Volunteers are currently working to raise the almost $200,000 needed to underwrite the event, as it is an all-expenses-paid trip for the veterans.

Information on how veterans can sign up for trip, as well as the date for the second annual trip to Washington for the group will be announced on Wednesday.
