For those of you who think iPhones and other smartphones are way too expensive, you should see what they've got across the pond.

Danish luxury retailer Aesir recently released a cell phone made out of 18-carat solid gold. Its "bare bones" features include call forwarding, speed dialing and a built-in calculator. There are no apps, no E-mail, no mobile Internet, nothing but your average cell phone. The price: a whopping $60,000! The phone will be released in Europe this fall, and will no doubt be released in the U.S. soon after.

Obviously, only the ludicrously wealthy need apply for this phone. But come on, this is crazy even for the crazy rich. If I'm going to drop 60 grand for a phone, it's not because it's made out of gold. For that price, it better do something really incredible, like have its own satellite!

And by the way, for the more "cost-conscious" consumer, the retailer will be relasing a stainless steel version of the phone for a still ridiculous price of $10,000.
