According to the Lubbock Police Department, there have been 48 wrecks in the area since 9 a.m. this morning due to winter weather and snow.

Originally, the number was 16, but since then it's went up to 48 as of 1:30 p.m.

The big ones occurred at the Marsha Sharp Freeway at Ave. Q. Several more occurred on Indiana between 19th and 34th Street, police say. Here's a full list of locations in Lubbock where accidents have happened:

Standard driving rules should apply in this case: Slow down; be cautious of those around you; and if you don’t need to get out, DON’T.

KISS-FM meteorologist Ron Roberts says it will not get above freezing today or tonight, so roads will still be very dangerous in the overnight and early morning hours.
