Summer is here and in full heat, and there's a fun activity here in Lubbock you can do that gets you out on the water.

It's called stand-up paddle boarding, or SUP. If you've never tried it, it's so much fun and actually really easy to do.

Suplbk is the company that started it here in Lubbock and they do rentals for any age to come out and enjoy. It all started back in 2015 when they founded SUP in Austin. They fell in love and knew it needed to come here.

Fast forward a little to 2017 when they opened up with just 21 boards. I've tried SUP at a couple of different locations and found theirs is the easiest because it has a big thick board for beginners. They even offer fitness classes, yoga, races, sunset paddles, full moon paddles and watching the fireworks on the 4th of July.

They also offer kayaks and "The Armada," which is a party board that holds up to 8 people.

Their home base for people to do it here in Lubbock is actually on Dunbar Historic Lake. They do rentals for 1 hour for $20 or 2 hours for $35. This all includes the board, paddle and a short tutorial. They said no reservations are needed, you just have to show up. They even welcome pets.

Suplbk is also having a sunset paddle on July 1st from 8 to 9:30 p.m. This is a relaxing way to have a beautiful view and enjoy the West Texas sky on the lake. It's a great time for a girl's night out, date night, a family get-together and so much more. Tickets are $35 and you will need reservations for any special events they have.

On July 4th they're offering a Fireworks Paddle where you can experience the 4th on Broadway's fireworks as you've never seen before: on the water. The booms are louder and it lights up the sky and water.

On July 13th at 8:30 p.m., Suplbk will offer a Full Moon paddle where you get to see the beautiful moon from the water. They encourage you to wear anything that glows, even glow paint.

They are also offering intro to SUP, SUP yoga, SUP fitness, kids camp day and group parties. All the details are here.

They are located at Canyon Lake Dr. East Parking Lot Lubbock, TX 79403.

Their hours do change, but for summer they're open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 12 to 6 p.m. You can find out more about them on their official website.
