For many teenagers across the country, prom night conjures up images of fancy gowns, dancing all night, and maybe a little romance. For some school officials, however, prom means trying to keep their female students from wearing something too scandalous.

Many schools across the country are taking measures to ban overly-sexy prom dresses from their proms.  Some of the guidelines include no sheer dresses, no plunging neckline, and nothing shorted than 3 inches above the knees. While most schools are handing out flyers and using posters to inform students of the policy, a few schools are taking some more "pro-active" measures to ensure students comply to the prom dress code.

Chaperones will be on the lookout for sneaky teens trying to skirt the regulations. Ginger Lawrence, an assistant principal in Lee County High School in Leesburg, Georgia, plans to bring a ruler and ask girls to measure themselves if their hemline appears to be cut too high above the knee. Sunnyvale High School, which is located outside of Dallas, Texas, enforces a dress code that clearly states that fabric inserts may not be sewn or pinned on a gown-since girls are known to rip them out once they make it into the dance.

Looking through some examples of banned dresses, (which included, among other things, mid-riff cutouts and slits nearly all the way up to the hip) I can only wonder what parent would actually allow their teenage daughters to walk out of the house wearing these things. Girls, it's just a school prom, not a nightclub. Have a little class, please?
