A psychiatrist based in San Angelo, Texas, will serve nearly six years in prison for submitting bogus medical claims to Medicare and Medicaid. Robert Hadley Gross, 58, even submitted claims for services he alleged to provide after a patient’s death.

Gross pleaded guilty to one count of healthcare fraud in September 2015. The case stemmed from fake claims of medical services not rendered by Gross between January 2009 and June 2014.

Although based in San Angelo, Gross submitted claims from mental health organizations in Midland, Abilene and Brownwood, along with San Angelo.

Along with serving 71 months in prison, Gross has been fined $100,000 and must pay $1.8 million in restitution.
