Safety Improvements to I-27 Set to Begin in January
The Texas Department of Transportation is set to begin a $34 million project in January of 2020 that will make safety improvements to over 27 miles of the I-27 corridor in Lubbock and Hale counties.
Concrete median barriers along I-27 will be installed through the city of Lubbock from 82nd Street to Loop 461 in New Deal and through the city of Plainview from FM 3466 to SH 194. Additional improvements include upgrading interstate lighting and drainage and concrete work.
Those traveling along I-27 will notice speed limits reduced to 55 miles per hour inside the active work zone in Lubbock city limits.
The project is expected to be completed in October of 2021.
