Proposed Constitutional Amendment to be Voted Upon in November
Texas Secretary of State Nandita Berry has announced that a proposed amendment to the Texas Constitution will appear on the November 4, 2014, ballot.
The amendment, which will appear on the ballot as proposition 1, is related to transportation. According to the Secretary of State’s office, Proposition 1, as it is worded on the ballot, provides for the use and dedication of certain money transferred to the state highway fund to assist in the completion of transportation construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation projects, not to include toll roads.
Secretary Berry also released a statement concerning the unusual timeframe in which the proposed constitutional amendment will be voted upon.
“I want to ensure that Texas voters are prepared and aware of what will be on the ballot this November,” Secretary Berry said. “Constitutional amendments are not usually on even-year ballots, but this election is an exception.”
The last day to register to vote for the November 4 statewide election is October 6. Early voting will begin on Monday, October 20, and will run through Friday, October 31.
