Life is getting back to normal and for those of us who enjoy a fine cigar with friends, that means cigar events are coming back to Lubbock at Smokers Haven.

Smokers Haven has already had a few events this year, but this one just feels like it will be different. With good weather expected and more and more people willing to get out and enjoy life.

On Thursday, May 20th Smokers Haven will welcome Perdomo Cigars and Perdomo Pat for their big cigar event. If you've never been to a cigar event and you are a cigar smoker, you are really missing out. The Perdomo Cigar event begins at 4 p.m. and goes until at least 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 20.

According to the Facebook event page, there will be burgers, beer, and the best cigars in town on Thursday during the event. Customers can sit inside or outside on the patio if they wish.

What I love about these events are the connections you make while sitting around and enjoying the company of others who are also enjoying a good cigar. Cigar smoking is a very social thing and meant to be enjoyed among others. And of course it also helps that whenever Smokers Haven has someone cooking, they knock it out of the park.

Perdomo Cigars will be on hand to show you the latest cigars from Perdomo and even make recommendations on what you should purchase and try. Of course, if you don't have time to stick around, you can always pick up a handful of cigars to add to your humidor.

Smokers Haven is located at 5102 60th Street in Lubbock.

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
