On Wednesday's edition of The Chad Hasty Show, Paul R. Beane joined the broadcast to talk about the passing of his long-time personal friend and co-worker, Tom Martin.

"It's a great loss for our city, it's a great loss for our general South Plains community, because he had such great vision for our community," Beane said of Martin.

Martin served as a member of the Lubbock City Council from 2002 through 2006, as well as two terms as the mayor of Lubbock from 2008-2012.

Beane detailed Martin's tireless work for the city, both in his official capacities as well as through his volunteer efforts as a private citizen.

While describing Martin's work and volunteer efforts, Beane said,

He was always ready to roll up his sleeves, dig right into any project that needed doing, and he did not ever care who got the credit for the success. All he wanted [was] to make sure that it was done correctly, and that he had a hand in it. And if he had a hand in it, it was almost always done right.
