One Person Dead After Two-Vehicle Accident in Lubbock

The Lubbock Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Saturday at the intersection of 4^th Street and Toledo Avenue in northwest Lubbock.

According to police, when officers arrived at the scene, they found that two pickups had been involved in an accident. A preliminary investigation has revealed that the pickup driving east on 4^th Street did not turn even though they were in a turning lane.

Instead, the pickup continued straight through the intersection and struck another pickup that was driving west on 4^th Street. The driver of the eastbound pickup was 18-year-old Brenda Castorena. She was taken to a local hospital but later pronounced dead.

Her 22-year-old male passenger was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, as was the 71-year-old driver of the westbound pickup. Police are still investigating what exactly caused the accident.
