The City of Lubbock is hosting their Ninth Annual Memorial Day Service this Monday. Speakers will include U.S. Congressman Randy Neugebauer and Judge Bill Sowder at the event, which will be held at the City of Lubbock Cemetery at 10 a.m. Monday.

Small American flags provided by American Legion Post 575 and the Girl Scout Texas Oklahoma Plains Council – Blue Sage Service Unit will be placed for the day on graves that have a Veterans Administration Memorial headstone or footstone. It is estimated that more than 3,000 veterans are buried at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.

The public is invited to bring their lawn chairs or blankets to the ceremony, as seating will be limited.

The service is hosted by the Nancy Anderson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, American Legion Post 575, and the City of Lubbock Cemetery.

The City of Lubbock Cemetery is located at 2011 East 31st Street, two blocks east of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
