Usually, a new cereal is cause for celebration for kids. But according to some parents, this new cereal is a cause for concern.

Parents from Allergy Moms, a support group for parents of children with allergies, have an issue with the new Multi-Grain Peanut Butter Cheerios. Apparently, some are afraid that the new Cheerios, made with real peanut butter, pose a risk of cross-contamination with other flavors of Cheerios and could endanger kids that are allergic to peanuts. An official statement from General Mills insists that they are "committed to allergen management" and there is no risk of the new Cheerios getting mixed in with the other flavors.

Overly-concerned parents aside, the article does bring up a interesting question. Are big food companies like General Mills obligated to protect children with food allergies? Personally, I don't think so. These companies sell their food to the general public, and they are not catering to the people with allergies. It shouldn't be up to the big corporations to watch out for the kids. That responsibility should lie with the parents themselves.
