A new Masked Rider will take the reins in a ceremony this week.

Texas Tech’s Masked Rider Program’s 52nd rider will take the reins of the program’s new horse from Ashley Wenzel, the 2012-2013 Masked Rider.

Two graduating Raider Reds, one who has served three years and was the face of the Capital One Mascot Challenge, and another who has served two years, will be unmasked. They will transfer their guns to new Raider Reds.

The name of Tech’s new horse and the winner of the naming contest will also be announced at the ceremonies.

The Passing of Guns will take place at 2 p.m. and the Transfer of Reins will take place at 3 p.m. Friday, April 19th at the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center on the Texas Tech campus.

The McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center is located off 17th Street and University Avenue.
