Why Is Neiman Marcus Closing Its Iconic Flagship Store?

WFAA reports that a spokesperson for Saks Global which runs the combined Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus brands post merger, said the store is closing after failing to come to a new agreement with the landlord to remain in the building. This comes after a decade of negotiations according to the report.

The flagship store located at 1618 Main Street has been around since 1914.

What Now For Neiman Marcus in Dallas?

Neiman Marcus isn't leaving Dallas. In fact, Saks Global has said they will spend $100 million on renovations on the Neiman Marcus store at NorthPark Center in Dallas.

The Dallas Morning News reported that the Downtown Neiman Marcus has been a key stop for over 100 years and many seasons of change in Downtown Dallas.

Neiman Marcus’ downtown store has long stood as one of the premiere retail locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, if not far beyond the area. While the heart of the city has undergone seasons of change with rising skylines, shop closures and historical events, Neiman Marcus has remained a key stop for those looking for luxury items and high-touch service that helped establish the brand and influence others.

The final day for the flagship Neiman Marcus will be March 31.
