During Tuesday's meeting of the Lubbock City Council, an update was given on the upcoming 70.3 mile Ironman Triathlon.

A presentation was given by Lubbock Fire Chief Shawn Fogerson and he described that the triathlon will have three main events over two days: the Ironman triathlon, a half-triathlon, and a kids triathlon.

The Easy Rider Olympic Triathlon will take place at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 29th. It will feature a 1 mile swim, a 26 miles bike course, and a 6.2 mile run. The Little Bison Kids Triathlon will begin at 7 a.m. and feature a 100 meter swim, a 3.1 mile bike course, and a 0.6 mile run.

On Sunday, June 30th, the Ironman will begin at 6:30 a.m. It will have a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike course, and a 13.1 mile run through and around the Texas Tech campus.

Registration is $300 per person for the Ironman or $375 for a relay team of 2 to 3 people. Registration requires you have a USA Triathlon membership that is $15 for the day or $50 for an annual membership.
