A Monterey High School teacher has been arrested and charged with improper or illegal photographing or videotaping.

According to a KFYO News source, William Edward Gallagher was reportedly escorted from the MHS building late last week, and the 52-year-old Gallagher has been arrested.

Gallagher was booked into the Lubbock County Jail at about 5:45 p.m. Thursday. He was being held on $20,000 bond, and posted bond Friday evening.

He reportedly submitted his resignation to Lubbock ISD at some point before his arrest.

According to the Monterey High School staff directory, Bill Gallagher is listed as the head boys cross country and boys track coach.

Lubbock ISD issued a statement to KFYO Friday afternoon, saying: "Lubbock ISD can confirm that Mr. Gallagher was arrested and charged with improper videotaping or photography. Lubbock ISD Police were involved in the investigation and arrest. Mr. Gallagher is no longer employed by LISD. We have complete faith in the judicial system and our district attorney to handle of this case fairly."
