Monday on the Chad Hasty Show, GOP strategist Matt Mackowiak talked about Republicans gaining momentum in Congress, Tea Part influence, and the continuing Wendy Davis drama.

Mackowiak suggested that it would be wise for Republicans to back away from discussion on immigration because it is such a divisive among party. He noted the advantage held by Republicans in the House and the likelihood that they will gain a majority in the Senate.

In response to the suggestion that the Tea Party is losing influence, Mackowiak said, "I don't believe necessarily the Tea Party is waning. It will still have an impact, particularly in primaries." He observed an ebb and flow between Tea Party groups regarding designation of support.

He noted the poor response by Wendy Davis to the recent release of her biographical information. He suggested her campaign is not prepared to run against Greg Abbott's team.
