On Monday's Chad Hasty Show, GOP strategist Matt Mackowiak joined Chad to talk about Donald Trump's statement on Saturday about John McCain's service during the Vietnam War and his capture after being shot down. Trump said during and interview with Frank Luntz, "He is a war hero because he was captured", then continued, "I like people that weren't captured, OK?" Trump has since refused to recant his statements, which many people view as disrespectful and untrue. Trump has refused an apology to McCain.

About Trump's remarks, Mackowiak said, "I'm having trouble remembering a presidential candidate who's ever said anything as offensive as that, in either party." Mackowiak continued, saying, "Every moment we spend talking about Trump, we're not talking about the serious candidates we have running for office. It's a real shame."

Hasty and Mackowiak also discussed the other Republican candidates in the race for the White House, as well as Bernie Sanders, who is opposing Hillary Clinton for the Democratic candidacy, and drawing huge crowds at campaign stops.
