A man sought on a drug possession charge took off running from officers with his two-and-a-half-year-old daughter in his arms yesterday.

Lubbock Sheriff deputies used a stun gun to subdue 21-year-old Jonathon Vazquez when they ran him down near his home in the 7400 block of Avenue W.

EMS arrived to treat the child, who had no reported serious injuries. Vasquez had refused to come out of his house when deputies arrived at his door. When they broke a window, he fled the scene with his young daughter swinging in his arms.

Deputies chased Vazquez to a few houses away from the scene and tased him.

Vazquez was arrested under a felony charge of possessing marijuana. He could now face other charges including evading arrest and risking injury to a child.
