Lubbock Woman Sentenced to 2 Years for Wire Fraud
A Lubbock woman was sentenced on Thursday by a federal court in New Mexico to 2 years in prison for wire fraud.
KAMC News reports that 55-year-old Selma Morales must also pay over $900,000 in restitution to her former employer, who she tried to defraud.
Her former employer was a Lubbock-based law firm with offices in New Mexico.
Morales was the bookkeeper and financial manager, and used the law firm's money for personal expenses such as groceries, car repairs, family vacations, plastic surgery and even NBA playoff tickets.
Morales pleaded guilty back in September of 2017.
